... I mean, really! what does that say about the integrety the website.
I wanted to lookup something about a file and got routed by google to 2-files.com. About the first thing i see is a bright red advertisement for Alexa Toolbar.

Now, I remember in the past, there have been people who have maintained that Alexa is not spyware. Hell, there are people that say Kontiki is not spyware!

Anyway, they look like spyware to me...so I will add 2-files.com to my lists. If I am wrong to say so...what are we doing here?

Do they ship alexa with IE?
It seems to have been something I have found on fresh installs...

Just use ad-aware or spybot S&D to get rid of alexa.

Yes ... The Alexia found in IE ... is for the "What's Related" function ... and it can be easliy removed ... as for is it spyware? ... I believe it does sent "generic" tracking info ... But a Spyware Expert could provide a more detail answer. ;)

As for info on the Alexa Toolbar --> http://www.spywareguide.com/product_show.php?id=418

Yep...I understand....but I seem to recall that AAW finds an 'alexa related' the very first time you run it after a fresh install of windows......I think it must come with IE?

    to buck...

It does...however, I would not call M$ exactly a high water mark for ethical practices.

(note to my knowledge they use some sort of middle man site to protect their good name)
