Just to keep anyone else that may be wondering about this potential problem up-to-date...

I have opened a ticket inquiring about how I can import my settings from one installation to another without screwing up the licensure if the different installations are on different license keys.

Two things, its impossible for me to create an account at My Webroot because the key that I have is not recognized by the website. The alternate key the sent also doesn't work. And I still have 365 days left on the license. :D

    Waiting on a solution.

This isn't supported at the moment as the license is tied directly with the settings, but you may be able to change it after importing without causing other problems if you cancel the rescan.

    @De Hollander,
I cannot create an account either and my days remaining is 365.
I sent a PM to PrevxHelp about this and he told me he was aware of this issue with some licenses and that it should be fixed with the next program update.

I have the same problem about not being able to register.

It still says 365 days remaining even though it was activated 3 days ago. Must be a lifetime license. ;)

I sure do think that there should be a way to import/export the settings without the license information; not to mention quarantine nor detection configuration.

If I was to try and do this and then quickly cancel the scan and change the license to the new one, what exactly would I be risking by doing that? Is this going to potentially screw up my old license I am currently using on other PCs? What are the "other problems" you speak of? Do you mean problems with the license, or problems with screwing up SecureAnywhere's integrity? o_O

This is, in my opinion, a fairly considerable issue because people may have multiple license keys that they manage for their family and friends and they want to be able to quickly copy settings over without the "personal" or "computer-specific" stuff. Furthermore, some users (such as myself) may want to make a "setting template" so-to-speak that they want to apply to all future computers perhaps a year from now, when they'll probably own a new license key anyway. Hint hint...I like SecureAnywhere! ;)

I don't like to give negative feedback about a product I love, but I highly urge a few options being added to the import/export screen to allow for exclusion of license key, quarantine, and ideally detection configuration information, since those are all computer-specific and it is a privacy concern to apply those settings to other computers you manage (others that use it will see files from your computer that got detected)! :doubt:

Thank you for reading and I hope you consider it. :D

EDIT: I am changing my recommendation slightly. I can see why Detection Configuration is included into the saved configuration, so that is a lower priority from my viewpoint. However, there's another thing that probably should not be transferred when importing/exporting configuration -- scan statistics. This is computer-specific, again, and really doesn't apply to multiple computers.

No. The program has not been updated. The version is still 8.0.1.95.

Determining factor is the DATE you install WSA. That's when the countdown begins! So, yes buy it now and 6 months from now when you install you will have 1 years coverage beginning that date.

Thanks, that's what I thought. Since this will be a 3 user can I install them at different times and have different expiration dates since I "think" this will have only one serial covering all 3.

No, don't think that will work. Once you initiate the license it's a done deal. Countdown on the 1 year license begins!

Think "1" license that supports up to three systems. The license starts ticking when you do the first install.

That is true it is one license so the first activation then it counts down on a 3 user license! So it's best to wait till you are ready to install on 3 machines!

Thanks for the info. I went ahead and purchased "another" 3 user license as I have 5 pc's so guess now it doesn't matter.

Waiting now for response from webroot on getting serials for upgrading to the SecureAnywhere 2012...I'd rather not go thru hassle of installing the old version then updating to the new one.

Webroot has 5-user licenses and can also do upgrades to a 5-user license from a 3 or 1.

Now I wonder, because when I checked with Webroot a long time ago, all of the legitimate 2011 licenses were backloaded onto the WSA system. That means that if you stick a legitimate old-style license into the WSA installer, it will take a little longer to activate, but it will work and also automatically issue a new code.

The "legitimate" part is important, though, because it turns out the license I had was stolen by a Best Buy person when destroying the software boxes. The licenses were reported by Best Buy as destroyed, so Webroot refunded the cost of them to best Buy and didn't load them into the WSA system. Turns out it would have worked just fine if I installed 2011 first and then upgraded, because it sends it anyway, but I didn't want to steal service from Webroot.

You are correct on the old license. Just got a reply and they confirmed it.

"Yes you are correct. When the previous keycodes are entered into the new Webroot SecureAnywhere installer it will upgrade the keycode from a Webroot Internet Security Essentials to a SecureAnywhere keycode."
