I am having major problems with Coolwebsearch trying to hijack my start up page when i boot up.
I have ran adaware and spybot S&D followed by CWShredder and Hijack this all to no avail. I have followed the instructions to the letter on these programmes and have the latest version of each installed. I also get the message Error loading C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ctrlpn.dll on start up and am unsure what relevance this is having on the situation. I would be extreemely grateful for any guidance. My Hijack this Log is pasted below.

    Hi richie,

I think you might have a new variant here. The dll at startup is probably the result of a bad coded attempt to put restrictions and a control panel on IE, by CWS

Can you please send me the following file? :

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MsSystem] c:\msdos.exe <- this one

    send to [ unzy @ wilders.org ] thanks!

After doing so have only HijackThis running and fix :

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?prd=ie&ar=iesearch
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank

    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,Search = http://ie.search.msn.com/{SUB_RFC1766}/srchasst/srchasst.htm

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Control] rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ctrlpan.dll,Restore ControlPanel

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MsSystem] c:\msdos.exe

    O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

O19 - User stylesheet: (file missing)

    Reboot after doing so

I'll keep you posted about the file you sent me

    Cheers,
