    if you search youtube.com, u can find video demos on Vista's speech recognition, and apparently, it still needs work :D :p

    Typical example of reducing keyboard usage :

    "Press any key" will be "Say any word" or "Make any sound".

    The {pause} problem {not recognized} p-r-o-b-l-e-m {pause} with {pause} speech {pause} recognition {not recognized} r-e-c-o-g-n-i-t-i-o-n {not recognized} RECOGNITION! {not recognized} oh forget it! {pause} is {pause} easily {pause} solved {pause} if {pause} you {pause} speak {pause} slowly {pause} in {pause} a {pause} monotone {pause} voice {pause} with {pause} short {pause} pauses {not recognized} p-a-u-s-e-s {pause} between {pause} words.

    And Vista is "supposed" to come out in January?

    That's no problem. In January M$ removes the word "BETA" and the rest will be fixed by a looong list of patches.
    During Christmas and New Year all users are drunk, unable to test the speech feature. :)

    Most operating systems need patching from time to time. This thread is about voice recognition however. Drunk or not. :D

    M$ has changed their approach with SDL (Security Development Lifecycle) ... while patches will be inevitable, they should be greatly reduced with their new mandate.

    While I dislike M$, they deserve credit for their new effort.

    Sorry for continuing OT --- Let's head back on topic. ;)

    Anyone see another business acquisition in MS`s future? Nuance = Dragon Naturally speaking perhaps?
