   ok so i got ESS 3.0 with 1 year left of my liscence do i have to pay to upgrade to 4.0?

   No, you don't have to pay to upgrade to 4.0.
   
   Use the same Username and Password for the download.
   
   Beware. ESS 4.0.417 still has a whole gob of bugs in it.
