Luckily SpywareGuard doesn't require many updates.

    Please download these files:
    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard/def1.dtb
    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard/def2.dtb
    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard/dlbdata1.dtb
    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard/dlbdata2.dtb

and replace the ones in your SpywareGuard folder.

    Regards,

    Pieter

  7. Are these clickable links (for SpywareBlaster, as well?) posted someplace static that I could bookmark?

I'm behind a firewall, so LiveUpdate doesn't work, and everytime I want to check for updates I have to search the forum.

(Before anyone asks, bookmarking the file locations themselves doesn't work because, since the webserver does not recognize the MIME-types, those files display as text and would get saved as ".htm" - and even removing the extension afterward won't help because the program complains the files are modified or reformatted.)

    TIA,
    Tom

    Hi Tom,

First of all here is a post by Javacool (reply #1 in thread) showing all the update files for both SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard...

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=14647;start=msg92222#msg92222

Now as far as them being clickable in terms of them just automatically downloading as these programs need them, you are correct about the issues with the mime type and file associations. They are of a non-standard (unknown) type so there is no automatic handling setup.

But from your last note above, I am unsure whether you are saying you can't use such links and do a Save As... in your browser and get usable files, or if you are simply saying that if you get one of the files contents in a browser window, it's saving that to disk that yields a corrupted file?

  9. LWM,

    Thanks for the reply.

I am able to do a SaveAs. I was looking for specifically for links for the 8 update files, from which one could do this periodically - since the LiveUpdate function doesn't work for me, and since I could not find those links in the Javacool download or FAQ pages.

I will just use the URL you've posted for the relevant forum posting.

    Thanks!

If updating via liveupdate don't work with a firewall, why does it trashes the program?
I get error 5 and out it goes
    This is about Spywareguard!

I can manualy setup any port i need to use, so what should be opened for liveupdate to work??
