Update always succesfull but signature months old

    Situation:

    Update always says it is successful and Update status says "Signature is upto date" but "Protection Status" says signature is old, and indeed, signature version is a couple months old.

    The taskbar icon remains red.

    Clicking "Update now" and all seems to go well, logs in , downloads a 3kb file and says update successful, but "Protection status" still says out of date.

    How can I remedy that.

    I would go to the Control Panel, add/remove programs, ESET NOD32 antivirus, and click on change and do a repair install and see if it helps.
