I have just been told it will probably be released in mid-march.

Right. Well, if it's anything like the last version, you won't be able to try it out......at least you won't be able to try out the boot time module. You had to actually purchase the s/w in order to use the boot time module and, for quite a few of us, we discovered it didn't work on our machines.

Sure, you'll get a "30 day no questions asked money back guarantee" but the developer kept promising that there would be a fix so many of us waited.....and waited......and waited.......until the 30-day period had expired. Months and months ago we came to realize that there would be no fix and, of course, no opportunity for a refund at that point or now.

I just read that this is compatible with Windows 7 x64 on Disktrix website. I've been using this thing for years and haven't loaded it on my new OS build since I thought that it probably wasn't compatible.

Anyone using it on Win 7 x64 successfully?

    Is this a trix?

I wonder if users who never got a fully working 2008 version will get a better deal.

It sure looks interesting, but the trust factor is just way to low.

Not based on what I read. But I just got an email about the new version from support. I responded and asked about it.

My mistake. I must have misread the following..

    >All customers who purchased UltimateDefrag 2008 after September 1st who >were promised a free upgrade will still get that upgrade and all customers who >purchase UltimateDefrag 2008 before the release of UltimateDefrag Version 3 >will also receive a free upgrade to version 3.

Yeah, if you read lower in the page, Banshee, it's going to less than $20 for owners of 2008. I'm somewhat willing to pay it only if I can get it to work on my system.

We'll see if it ever comes out of the vaporware stage.

And..even if it works on your system, if you need support you are stuffed(pretty much).

Likewise if it **doesn't** (fully) work on your system and submit a request for a refund. I'm hoping the developer (Rob F) will change his policy with this new release thereby allowing potential purchasers a limited-term trial of the FULL product (which, of course, includes the boot-time defrag module).
