    it's one of the few webpages without Tracker, Ads, or "3rd-party analytics-scripts" ;)

    I have 3rd party frames blocked on our family desktop and even if I noop this site locally the games won't play, so I think it's a static filter blocking something. How do I fix this?

    Hi Overkill, try updating your filters. If you are using too many and that don't work, try disabling a few.Try disabling Easy list. If you are blocking scripts, girlgames.com has to be allowed. This are clues from a friend who uses ABP and NoScript :cool:.

    From the popup you can open the logger, in there you can reload the site and get to see which filterlist (and what specific filter) blocks stuff.
    First try nooping the site which you suspect to be culprit, when you found it, you can create a permanent exception rule to overrule the specific filter. (of if the filterlist owner got a forum, open a topic so that it can be altered globally for this specific site)

    BTW, is it possible to block "Meta Refresh" with uBlock? I've noticed that some sites reload themselves, I thought this was a thing of the past, but I recently saw this in FF.

    Hi guys, in regards to my earlier post #2247, I have figured out that easy privacy is blocking that section of the webpage, but I don't see any blocking in the logger so how would I go about whitelisting it if I chose to?

    If Easy Privacy blocked something, it should be listed in the logger.
    I can see a lot of red entries from that list.

    I am not seeing any static blocks in the logger, but I figured out the issue (with the help of ghostery)and how to allow it...

    I have installed ghostery as an information tool rather than a blocker and it helps quite a bit with troubleshooting some 3rd party blocks along with the logger :thumb:

    Okay, you're in the proper thread. Maybe @gorhill could ask the mods to change the title?

    Q1: Why are hosts file offered with 3rd party filters.
    Do hosts file e.g., hpHosts or MVPS Hosts offer practical filter since DNS.
    I thought hosts file were used to resolve hosts names before DNS.
    Does adding hosts filter thru uBlock Origin do the same as adding hosts file to localhost.

    Q2: Do Malware domains offer practical filter,.....thousands in an internet of millions.

    I can`t remember how to import a "local" filter list (from my HDD) into the custom 3rd party filter list box,

    additionally, now I can`t find the info where it was mentioned previously either - can anyone please give me a hint ?

    Thanks.

    No. Using hosts files through uBO:
    - enforce the blocking only to the browser;
    - also block subdomains of entries in a hosts file -- it effectively translates any entry in a hosts file into the ABP filter equivalent "||example.com^";
    - since these become filters in uBO, you can easily override one entry with a narrow exception to un-break a site;

    Adding

    file:///path/to/file

    should do the trick.

    I don't know what happened but all of my settings have disappeared and there is no way the load third party filters. It's probably corrupted, has anyone ever seen this before? I will now try to reinstall it. But this shows why it's a good idea to back up settings.

    I would advise to take the backup of \extension-data\ublock0.sqllite file before you do any troubleshooting steps.
    Later, you could simply delete the sqllite file. It will automatically recreate it. I believe so!

    I think @gorhill would be interested if you have any specific reproducible steps.

    Also, do you see any errors in the extension console?

    I think it's probably related to Sandboxie, for some reason uBlock's data has been corrupted. Even removing and reinstalling didn't help. For some reason it refuses to save settings. So I will probably have to clean my sandbox, or copy extension data from another sandbox. I'm not sure why other extensions don't seem to be affected, it's one of those weird problems.
