I am running ESS version 4. Just installed a wireless router with security enabled and am no longer hard wired to my cable modem. Under this setup, I think I have read that it is okay to turn off the ESS firewall. When I do, though, my system tray icon goes to orange indicating a problem. Is there a way to turn off the firewall without the program lodging this objection? Do not want to go back to straight AV as I like the spam module and how it works in TBird.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

Why not uninstall ESS and run EAV? I don't think there's away around the alert unfortunately.

One another note, I still push Windows firewall on PC's behind routers, you might just want to keep ESS firewall on for an extra gate.

As I said, I do not want to lose the spam module.
