    Hello Melissa,

    Welcome to Wilders ! :)

Your machine certainly not in good shape. You have collections of adware, dialer, virus and Trojan.. ;)

On the top, we keen to know at what source and at which file (is in this one, 4b_1,0,1,0_mslagent.dll ?) the above mention Trojan is located. Is it AVG which told you that you are infected with the Trojan or from other source you knows the same.. It will help immensely if you post the name(s) of the infected file.

Let's begin the cleaning from Hijacthis.

Now, Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {021BB032-80A8-4FB6-B3D5-CF27B1553B95} - C:\WINDOWS\mslagent\4b_1,0,1,0_mslagent.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {0473053E-F185-4943-9572-3C1B044D0763} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\whljs.dll

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wcmdmgr] C:\WINDOWS\wt\updater\wcmdmgrl.exe -launch
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SysUpd] C:\WINDOWS\sysupd.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Instant Access] rundll32.exe p2esocks_1012.dll,InstantAccess
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [mslagent] C:\WINDOWS\mslagent\mslagent.exe ->Trojan.Simcss.B
    O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE

    O16 - DPF: {093F9CF8-0DE1-491C-95D5-5EC257BD4CA3} - http://akamai.downloadv3.com/binari...dtc32_EN_XP.cab
    O16 - DPF: {1EB17D1C-141D-4D9D-91CB-24D99215851D} - http://akamai.downloadv3.com/binari...tia32_EN_XP.cab
    56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://207.188.7.150/125cdb64c8a23e...tzip/RdxIE2.cab

As mentioned above, the red color entry shows that you have Trojan named Simcss.A aka mslagent adware.

The entry in green color is optional to remove but recommended because it's major resource hog.

The entry in Blue color will periodically contact Wild Tangent servers to see if an update is available for your system and allows us to make the product exceptionally reliable. You can control its behavior, or disable it completely, inside your Windows Control Panel. Note that Wild Tanget's privacy policy states they also collect and share individuals information. This entry is also optional to remove.

When you've done, Reboot your machine and boot into normal mode by tapping F8 key at bootup(8-9 times).

This may happen that file is hidden so first unhide the files using following instructions...
    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...Virus Corporate Edition&ver=8.x&osv=&osv_lvl=

Search and If present, delete all the following files and folders..

    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\whljs.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\wt\updater <- Complete folder
    C:\WINDOWS\sysupd.exe
    p2esocks_1012.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\mslagent\<- Complete folder

Still in safe mode, Go to this website and follow the instructions as directed there.

Reboot your machine and boot into normal mode.

Now, it's time to scan your machine fully once again. Please make sure that your antivirus is up to date. You also scan your machine online at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Be sure and put a check in the box by Auto Clean before you do the scan. If it finds anything that it cannot clean have it delete it or make a note of the file location so you can delete it yourself.

When you've done all this reboot once again and then Re-scan your machine with hijackthis and please post a fresh log..

    With Thanks !
    Newkid.

    Hi!

Thank you for your advice. I tried what you said, but the virus is still showing up. It tells us to run AVG to get rid of it, but when we do...it still shows up and AVG can't see it. I'm completely lost!! It says that the virus is in C:\system Volume Information\-restore{2803F6BA-AE01-4D4D-995B-C2CB83E5C7AA}\RP7\A0000108.dll . I redid a scan with hijackthis:

    Hello Melissa,

Very Good Job indeed. Your new log looks clean to me. :)
All you need to do is a create a restore point.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer-->Click Properties-->Click the System Restore tab.--->Check Turn off System Restore.-->Click Apply, and then click OK.

    Restart your computer.

I am presuming that you scan your machine online as well apart from AVG scan. If you not did earlier or did then please do it again.Go here and do an online virus scan:

    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Be sure and put a check in the box by Auto Clean before you do the scan. If it finds anything that it cannot clean have it delete it or make a note of the file location so you can delete it yourself.

    Restart your machine.

When you are sure you are clean turn it back on and create a restore point.

    With Thanks !
    Newkid !
