    Hi dear G.,

I still have it installed. The latest defs are indeed from 27 Jan 2014 (using the US server):

    Ruleset datestamp : 2014-01-27
    Scan kernel : 5.0 (Aurelius)
    Ruleset entries : 638786
    Trojan definitions : 117955
    Detection rules : 638786

I don't know what is happening .... I do hope that Magnus is OK. It wasn't a good sign that Gavin suddenly wasn't there anymore at the board, posting etc. It isn't a good sign that possible FPs are late or not at all yet fixed, and that the defs are not updated on a regurlar basis lately. I will send an email to Tom, but whether he does know more ...

Yes, hope all is well with Magnus. The updates seem to be smaller since Gavin Coe departed one year ago. In the past month they have also been less frequent (about every 3-4 days). I still have TH installed and hope it continues. It would not be the first time though that we have seen a product just vanish.

Well, here's some good news for TrojanHunter. For the past four or so days I had been having weird issues with one of my computers. I had Internet connection, but I could not download or update any of my security programs. The scan I performed with my regular antivirus showed nothing, and when I tried to download others for a second opinion, nothing could be downloaded. But I had TrojanHunter on my computer, and I ran a full scan. And it found Zbot.18228 Trojan in multiple locations. I let it quarantine and then rebooted, and things are back to normal. Really glad I had TrojanHunter installed, because I was facing serious issues being unable to update any of my programs.

    Hi jjc225,

I'm glad that you were able to fix things, BUT are you really sure that that detection by TrojanHunter wasn't a false positive?

Have a look at this thread at the TH forum:
    http://www.trojanhunter.com/forum/board/FalsePositives/1393112197

You see there a post about a false positive Zbot.18228.
Unfortunatily in that post smilies were not disabled, so the right info is not correct shown.
See my test post in the following thread about enabling and disabling smilies with respect to the characters "8" and ")" (without quotes):
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=360580

TrojanHunter can and does give false positives. That is definitely an issue, the more when Magnus isn't replying to questions.
At least scan your files at VirusTotal and Jotti in case TrojanHunter is warning about a file.
I am not saying that it was a false positive on your system, but you should be aware about that possibility.

Thanks. I'll monitor the situation on my computer. Actually, problems have returned. Again, I have Internet connection but can't download new programs or update security programs. I am running another TrojanHunter full scan to see if anything else pops up. I still have the earlier files in quarantine if I need to restore them.

    Hi jjc225,

Can you post the scanlog from TrojanHunter?
It can be found at C:\Program Files\TrojanHunter 5.x\Scan Reports
    See the TH FAQ http://www.trojanhunter.com/forum/board/FAQ/1195720372

Since the Wilders board doesn't give anymore one-on-one help in case of possible infection, I urgently (!) advise you to go to one of the forums that give that kind of help. See https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1533481&postcount=3
I really strongly advise you to go to one of those forums that gives that kind of help! Follow the guidelines at the forum you have chosen. And when you do so, give those kind folks the info about the TH scan log! Please let us know which one of those forums you have chosen, the link of the thread and how things are going.

As it turns out, there was no virus or trojan issue. I went back and restored the defaults on Windows firewall, and everything is back to normal. For some reason the firewall got screwy and was not allowing programs to update or new programs to be downloaded. I have restored the fp's from TrojanHunter, and all seems to be well.
