Trojan Horse Revop.C

I am new to this site, and relatively new to the idea of spyware, but have been directed here doing a internet search for Trojan horse Revop. C. I need help with this.

The story.

My Norton AV had been acting up, e-mail scanning was turned off, and autoprotect wasn't working. I decide to download AVG and did a virus scan and found nothing.

I then noticed an unrecognised quarentined item in Norton, and tried to send it off for analysis. AVG discovered it was Revop.C

It is not in the AVG database and not in Nortons either. Is it a bit of spyware and how do i get rid of it.

I have Spybot S&D, Adaware and now have scanned using hijack this to give a log.

Can you advise me. (but use simple language cos I'm only a girly)

Hi Pigog, and welcome to Wilders.

I am afraid you will have to repost your Hijackthis log as it is missing the top portion.

After you scan with Hijackthis and click the "Save Log" button, save it to your harddrive then open the log in Notepad. Copy and paste here the entire contents of the log, and be sure to include the top portion where it shows the version of Hijackthis, the time of scan, your operating system, the version of IE, and the list of running processes.

Hi, after posting last night I actually followed instructions on another posting and Turned off my restore point, rescanned with adaware and spybot and deleted/fixed problems. I have run AVG again and no virus found. I still cannot get Norton to work properly.(I have 2002 version and it apparently is not supported anymore so I cannot establish the problem using their on-line technical help. But that is another story)
I have enclosed a new file log for you to look at to see if I have removed this "Thing"

Another question i now have is, scince using spybot I cannot visit certain sites without an error on the page appearing. How can I discover what to ignore in the ignore lists to enable them to work again. E-bay was one and I have had to ignore certain adware, but this came up on the screen so I knew which one to uncheck. other sites I just cannot visit anymore.

Hi Pigog,

Before you start, please unzip hijackthis to a separate folder. The program will make backups in the folder in the folder it's in.
These easily get lost in a Temp folder.

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

Running two firewalls is asking for all kinds of problems, so I left off after cleaning out the spyware.
I saw ZoneAlarm and Sygate so I used the breaks and stopped to ask first.

Thanx, I will try and follow the above.

Two fire walls is not intentional, I used to just use Sygate , but someone recomended zonealarm. I just don't know which one is best and have not got round to deactivating one of them yet. Any suggestions?

I shall let you know how my de-bugging goes when I have finished.

 

Hi Pigog,

I have tried both and am not partial to either. Any of them will do fine. Take the one you find easiest to configure if both run well on your system.
But running two of them will give you problems for sure.
