You know, eventually this is going to drive me to drinking!

Here's what I did (you can follow it in the log portion I'm fixing to c&p below):

Started TDS. Since it's Friday, it started out with the defs from 2/4/04 (see bolded text below) - then it auto-updated itself and the "references" and "primaries" counts went backwards (note, however, that the "traces" and "variants" counts increased!).

So I took a deep breath and did not do anything except shut TDS down and re-start it - at which point the darned thing came up with all of today's latest updates!

Huh? Wazzat? Did the program automatically update itself again - correctly this time - when I re-started it ?

OR is there a possibility that - due to some kind of programming flakiness in the updater itself - that it had actually gotten the update correctly the first time I opened the program, but some kind of a "bug" keeps the counts from showing up correctly?

Did you happen to have a chance to look at this thread I started awhile ago?
    http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=21173

You might have just gotten a corrupt download or downloaded from one of the bad servers when it displayed 0 primaries. You do seem to have the latest update though...

If you run into this again you may want to manually update from the site and download and install the latest update.cfg file. Gavin has reported that he took out all the bad server entries in the update.cfg file the other day :)

rerun2 - I'll certainly try doing that (getting the updated .cfg file), but I'm really trying to eliminate the possibility I out-lined above - that you do actually get the correct update, but that for some reson it doesn't show up with the right details on the main TDS screen.

You see, even if it had automatically updated itself again the second time I started the program, it would have been using the same server - it never (I watched it) went past the first server on my list either time. I'm at work now and I can't really tell you which one that is.

    Thanks. Pete
