(Just the topic title must by now have the mods wincing. ;) )

Another one about YaBB "mechanics", what the heck ... down at the bottom where it lists "Users online", does it always show yourself first, or is it simply in reverse order of who logged in when?

The latter would make sense, since I'll typically look there when I first come in and of course at that point I'm probably the latest arrival.

Heaven forbid we should become fixated on security matters, which last I looked is what we're here for, right? :D

    Hi Mike, :D

Actually, it shows people in the order of recent accesses to the forum.

The most recent person to access is first, the second most recent will be next, and so on. As a person slips down the list towards the end, it shows it's been longer since they last accessed. After 15 minutes of no access, a member name will drop off the list.

Now, interestingly enough given the mechanics of exactly how the index page assembles, (in parts) while normally "you" would be first, there are times when that section of the page assembles just after someone else accessed the forum. You can on occasion find yourself as number 2 (and very rarely 3). Strange, but it does happen. ;)

Thanks, LWM, that's pretty much what I'd guessed as you could probably tell from my question.

And of course if several people log in at almost the same time, it makes sense that it could be a coin-toss as to which order they appear.

Mike what would bother me about the online list is if I were to log on and find out I really wasn't here. :D :D :D :D ;)
