TIB files that work with both ATI workstation and dos command?

Is there any way i can make a backup that will work both from:

within the ATI program (in XP) using "recovery" and writing to a usb connected disk.

and

using the AcronisTrueImageDos.exe program from a network location?

So far it seems that the files are not interoperable... the dos command will not open the archive created by workstation "Failed to open image archive", and the workstation will image the files created by the dos program, but the image will not be bootable, even after running fixboot and fixmbr.

the command i am using to create the image is:
TruImg.exe /create /partition:1-1 /filename:L:\r51.tib /compression:7 /split:1400 /reboot

the command i am using to restore the image is:
TruImg.exe /deploy /filename:L:\r51.tib /harddisk:1
or
TruImg.exe /deploy /filename:L:\r51.tib /harddisk:1 /target_harddisk:1
