You will learn an awful lot about how your computer works when using a program such as ProcessGuard.
When you get an alert about a new process trying to run then you can often make a judgement based on what you were/are doing, if you have just updated a program for instance, PG will alert you to the changed .exe. If you install a new program from a trusted source you will get alerts for the new .exes and these should be quite obvious.
Any other alerts which are not obvious, you can either ask in this forum or Google for information on the particular .exe and again make a judgement as to what you should do.

BTW follow the advice given above, buy the full version and get the fullest protection that PG can give you.

I definately agree everyone, ProcessGuard will help you learn what's happening on your system and at your own pace.

You really won't see that many pop ups after learning in your system, particularly if you learn in your commonly used applications. Much like allow/deny firewall software, these pop ups diminish over time as you fine tune your system. And as you become familiar with your system and you choose to leave some processses to permit/deny once to monitor when they run, you'll learn even more.

Slowly over time, when you look at that long list of processes running in Windows Task Manager, it won't look like an alien list written in Babylonian chicken scratch anymore, but something more familiar and controllable.
