    Well I always have my laptop plugged into a power surger. I think its what its called.

    Power surger, interesting name, but I think a product with that name would be more detrminetal them helpful if you know what I mean ;)

    I think you meant surge protector :D

    However, a UPS is also an excellent device. When I was over a friends house in the middle of some snow and ice (last time we had it about two years ago), the power repeatedly flickered, but we continued to game impervious to the 5 second loss of power. Also, it is great in case the power does suddenly go out, so you have the time to do a clean shutdown (especially when working with critical data)
