Thank you for replay, and soryy for my pitch english.
    Here, the desired response:

Registered Product: Paragon System Backup 2010 (German)
    Serial Number: ~ Snipped serial # - Blue ~
    Original name stub32i.exe
    Intern name stub23
    Version .00
    Language English(USA)
    Date of registration: 06.11.2009
    Buy Date: 06.11.2009
    Order Number: 8196341
    Shop Name: Paragon Software

    Program properly installed and registered.
    Program starts,
it appears a window with the message: Auto Snapshots can`t be created,
Select a space for the backup, confirmed, it seems a new window :
with proposals, Continue, it seems a new window :
Wait for the USB hard drive, the USB drive is plugged in and recognized (USB to IDE)by the Device Manager,
Continue, it seems a new window : Setting up new snap container, look for suitable place.
and the search does not stop, and the egg timer runs and runs and runs.....
The Windows Task Manager shows, however, which the program is running .
CPU utilization goes every 5-6 seconds from 0 up to 45%, guaranteed memory = 470M.
I already tried this procedure about 5 times. Period varies 30-40 minutes and and no further progress.
I reinstalled the program several times, always the same.

    Hi sysop,

It is probably not a good idea to post your serial number - you may want to edit that out.

One of the PSG staff will be here after the weekend, and I am sure one of them will repond to you then.

    Hope it helps.

Many thanks to the moderators of the forum as well as to the Paragon Support Service.
Although I have received until now still no answer to my Inquiry about my problem, but it helped me very much a decision to make.

Goodbye Windows XP and System Recovery, 2010, Welcome Windows 7.

Purchased, installed, tested and everything works error free!

    bye, bye, bye

    Hi sysop,

You did get 2 responses already.

Your previous post was at the start of the weekend.

You haven't given the PSG staff much opportunity to respond to that one yet.

If you have the paid product - you are guaranteed a response in 3 working days by sending a support ticket within the support period.

This Forum is additional to that - for those outside the support period, or with free products.

There has only been 1 working day since your previous post.o_O

Glad to hear you are happy with Windows 7.;)

    Hello sysop_home,

Hard to tell where the problem lies. Have you tried to initiate a backup to your local internal hard drive to rule out if the problem is with the external hard drive? Were there any other indications of services not working (VSS) or errors you've encountered. If the backup did initiate but it's stalling for that long, it could be due to performance or consistency of the source or destination.

To rule out the program, try Backup & Recovery 10 Free Edition. It's an overall better program than System Backup 2010 in terms of features.
