For a small business, I need manageable protection. I am considering Symantec vs. Avira. Both seem to tackle the same types of issues, have generally good reviews, and have a management console.

Should I consider anything else in addition to either one of those solutions?

    Avira from the two,

In addition --> MalwareBytes Anti-Malware with PrevX Edge would form perhaps an unbeatable signature detection.

I vote Avira because it is #1 in the tests - and it's one of the AVs I personally trust the most. But try both, as they are both good. I have other apps in my sig, and want to add DefenseWall.

Avira would be a tad better, but of course price should also be considered.

Norton gets my vote for being lighter in browsing . As far as security? They both offer the same level but Norton is a little bit more configurable. I am afraid this is becoming A vs B thread very soono_O:D :D :D

Vote for Antivir for outstanding heuristics.
Today I got 11 new vundo variants.
~5 were detected by almost all products. And 6 were not.
But Avira detected 5 of them like Vundo.gen when others didn't.

    Pretty damn good :)

This thread has become a vote for favorite AV rather than response to OP.
