    I am a computer consultant. Clients are starting to bring in infected computers, and I need to know how to deal with the computers on my own as opposed to bugging Wilders Security all the time. Please explain what I am to do.

    On this present computer, I have run Stinger with no results, Trojan Horse remover with a suspected Trojan Horse that the program stopped running and renamed it. I have run Ad-Aware and eliminated 369 pieces of adware/spyware. I have run a bootup scan with AVG, but no viruses detected. I have run a preliminary scan with PC-Cillin with only ADW_RULEDOR.C coming up - some kind of adware. I have shut off System Restore. I have not yet run a scan in Safe Mode. What do I do from here? What do I look for in the Hijack This? Please educate me.

    Here's the Hijack This log for the present computer:

    You have the Peper trojan
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [2P6WFAX43ZHE7C] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WYL0.EXE

    Hi SWCS,

    Before you start please unzip hijackthis.exe to a folder of it´s own. The program creates backups in the folder it is in. In a Temp folder they easily disappear.

    Check the following items in HijackThis.
    Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://default-homepage-network.com/start.cgi?new-hklm
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://server224.smartbotpro.net/7search/?new-hklm

    Please download and run CWShredder
    Use the Fix button and follow the instructions provided by the program.

    Then reboot into safe mode and delete:
    C:\Program Files\COMET SYSTEM <= entire folder
    C:\Program Files\Lycos\IEagent <= entire folder
    C:\Program Files\SysAI <= entire folder
    C:\Program Files\INCREDIFIND <= entire folder
    C:\Program Files\WHENUSEARCH <= entire folder
    C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate <= entire folder
    C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools <= entire folder
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\pcs <= entire folder
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Dpi <= entire folder
    C:\Program Files\Common files\updmgr <= entire folder
    C:\Program Files\VBouncer <= entire folder
    C:\Program Files\Date Manager <= entire folder

    Then empty NOT delete this folder:
    C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\Owner\LOCAL SETTINGS\Temp

    The Local Settings folder is hidden by default.
    Check here how to "unhide" those: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=192

    Then please use AdAware or Spybot as described here:
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=15913

    That should also enlighten you about why I listed SpyHunter to be removed from your Startups. (Giving you a false sense of security)

    Regards,

    Pieter
