I installed SAS and am now experiencing slow start ups.

I enabled 'verbosestatus' in the Registry to display what is happening at boot and see "executing SASWINLO.dll" is taking 35 seconds to load.

This has made my previously quick starting XP computer to take 70 seconds to boot.

Any other SAS users experiencing this slowdown?

None here. Am running xp SP3

Do you have first chance prevention enabled? This will scan critical points of your system at startup and shutdown causing a bit of a lag.

Yes this programs is slow and causes temporary freeze in the system when you try to update and its update mechanism is stupid, every time you have to download its full database. I think this program take admiration more than it deserve.

That is the case for YOUR system. Not true for everyone. I have absolutely no problems and have been using SAS for quite a while

Disable First Chance Prevention. That will take care of the start up and shut down scans. You will, of course, loose some of your protection.

BINGO! Disabling 'First Chance Prevention' made my boot time go from 70 seconds to less than 20 seconds.

    Thanks guys!
