Anything we should prepare ourselves for before expecting 5958 to be released?

    Hello,

Unfortunately, false positive alarms and related issues can occur at any time no matter how good your pre-release QA is because you are not gong to be able to test for all possible environments, configurations and scenarios. It is very easy to say what could have or should have been done, but the personal computer ecosystem is such that you can send signatures through hundreds or even thousands of VMs hosting particular OS, SP, language pack and application configurations, only to find some permutation that wasn't adequately covered in your test case scenarios.

When a pervasive false positive alarm issue like that does express, you just cringe inside inside. Regardless of the fact that it may be one of your competitors, at the end of the day, you are all working together to combat a common threat, and it doesn't really help when one of your fellow legionnaires looses their place in the shield wall.

For this reason, there is already a fair amount of cooperation between vendors over false positive alarms, and those types of communications and activities are on the increase.

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky
