It seems like many Wilders readers have a couple programs installed that they can always rely on to run smooth as butter- no errors, bsod's, etc. Some may not have all the bells and whistles as rival products, but they just sit quietly and do the job they claim they can do. Which products would fit this category for you?

I would nominate Karen's Replicator, Media Monkey and Norton's UAC Tool.

Karen's Replicator- not as feature rich as some rival products but maybe fewer features also means fewer potential problems? I sometimes forget KR is even installed. But whenever I check my external hard drive all my needed files are backed up like they are supposed to be.

Media Monkey- I won a Gold license although the free version is probably just as good. When I need something done with my music, MM has never failed.

Norton's UAC Tool- made Vista bearable. NUACT always pops up when I try to run a new or upgraded download and never forgets what it is supposed to remember.

Also, none of the above products have caused endless spam from their promoters or "upgrade now" banners. Maybe MM free does, I am not sure about that. But the above three products are three I would nominate for this thread. Sometimes we forget how nice it is to not have to constantly mess with programs that cause issue after issue.

    Norton :D :thumb:

The new versions have completely changed the way I think about Norton.

They really made amends from their mistakes, and now their product is one of the most satisfying purchases I had.

I totally agree - I should have also mentioned Norton - their Internet Security 2010 is excellent.

GeSWall Pro and SpywareBlaster are that way for me. They just sit quietly and do the job they claim they can do.

CCleaner, WinPatrol (free), MBAM (free), Sandboxie (free), and Glary Utilities.

Nothing fancy, but all are solid and totally dependable applications. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

I couldn't be happy with my x64 windows 7 system using ShadowDefender, Active @ Disk Image, LnS, WinPatrol Plus, and AVP Tool for on-demand scanning.

I just got MediaMonkey and I'm loving it. :)

I rely on Comodo Internet Security (don't use its AV...I don't care for AVs lol), Windows Live Mail (sometimes slow and a bit buggy...still like it), FIREFOX (yay) :thumb:, Windows 7 (lol), and Windows 7's backup feature (another lol).

:D (I hate how the scroll bar for the text panel goes up when I click a smiley, etc.)

I should have mentioned CCleaner and ATF Cleaner. Like GeSWall and SpywareBlaster, they just sit quietly and do the job they claim they can do (when I ask them to do it). ;)

Avira AntiVir Premium, Prevx with SafeOnline (paid), Shadow Defender, and TuneUp Utilities 2010 all work flawlessly for me on my 32-bit XP Pro system.

Edit: Forgot to mention CCleaner and SpywareBlaster.

I should have mentioned Ccleaner and SpywareBlaster as well (thanks for reminding me).

So my list would be -
    Karen's Replicator
    Norton's UAC Tool
    Media Monkey
    CCleaner
    Spyware Blaster

Nice programs that do not cause more problems than they are supposed to solve.

There's no such thing as errorless software. Except maybe a hello world!
That said, never had an issue with notepad++.
