    Hello!
I'm looking for security setup to my Windows. I need:
    - lightweight firewall (free and easy)
    -fast av (free, good detection)
    -another security program (hips?)
    any suggestions? Send your proposition.

The complete support of Win2000 has ended on 13th of July these days - get
an actual OS (means: no updates, no important updates, no security updates!)

    PS same for XP Sp2 - SP3 till 2014.

SP3 is until 2020, due to nonsense complaints. I have to agree though, if you're hooking up to the net, get rid of it and at least get XP.

Ok, but my Windows XP is activated (OEM) and my Windows 2000 is still unused. I haven't Windows 7 (not enought memory and money).

Now, I'm using ESS and Mamutu on Windows XP, so can I activate on Windows 2000 (another disk)?

About 2 - 3 years ago, my security setup for Windows 2000 SP4 was
Avira Antivir Personal 9 (freeware) and Comodo Firewall Pro 2.4.18.184
    Everything works fine.
About 1 year ago, I decided to try firewall with better HIPS and
    replace Comodo by Online Armor.
Also, I installed newer version of Avira
Now, my security setup is Avira Antivir Personal 10 (freeware) and
    Online Armor 3.1.0.26 Free.
    Everything works fine
Both setups are rather light and fast.
Comodo 2.4.18.184 and Online Armor 3.1.0.26 are the last one with
    Windows 2000 support.
In the meantime, I tried Outpost Firewall Free 2009, but my experience with
this firewall was not good (sometimes BSODs and slow internet transmission,
especially with many browser tabs open.

For unknown reason Online Armor 3.1.0.26 Premium (paid) was not
working well with Avira (frequent blocking of updates and errors with
    status signalization)

Other setup is on-demand free scanners Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.46
    and SUPERAntiSpyware Free 4.40.1002

P.S. In the meantime, I tried to use Privacyware Private Firewall 7
claimed as Windows 2000 SP4 compatible, but without success.
Actualisation of Avira (and Avast) was not possible (transmission
    blocked and CPU utilisation 100%).
The same with Windows actualisations (both automatic and manual -
transmission blocked and 100% of CPU utilisation)
Interesting that two processes are responsible for CPU utilisation
    PF6SVC and CSRSS)

    Hope this helps

    Best regards
    William
