    Hi All

I have a 56KB ini file causing a slow down. It takes around 30secs to scan the file, everytime it is accessed!!

The ESET statistics showed that whilst scanning the ini file, the 'Number of clean objects' count went up ~1000 !!!

The INI file contains ~1000 nnnn=string value pairs.

    Is this expected behaviour?

What are the recommended exclusions on an ESET client?

    Cheers
    Michael

I'd strongly recommend excluding this file or the ini extension from scanning. Don't wonder that a slowdown occurs if a file is continually being opened and closed immediately.

That would explain why the object count is going up!
Blerg must be java. Thats awful programming...

Marcos, how do I exclude just one file type (*.ini)?
I can only see the ability to specify 'what to scan' not 'what not to scan'??

    Thanks for prompt response
    Michael.

Hi Michael, navigate to Real-time protection -> Setup -> Extensions and add the INI extension to the list of files with extensions excluded from scanning.

Ah yes now I see :)

    Same story in RA.

    Thanks Marcos

I've let the developer know that it's probably best NOT to open a network file thousands of times!

    Cheers
    Michael.
