I smoked for 31 years and averaged when I quit about 2 to 2 1/2 packs a day. Pretty bad huh?

:D Just for those who think they can't do it! The "Wildman" started when he was the ripe old age of ten (10), sneaked mom's cig's. I was one of them types who said ain't no one going to tell me what I can and can not do, when I became older. I smoked like a chimney while in the service. At the hight of my addiction I was up to almost three (3) packs a day. A simple statement form the spouse, something like "you couldn't quit if you tried", set me off, and I became stubborn enough to say, don't tell me what I can and can not do, sound like a pattern here? Ninety nine (99%) percent of the battle is wanting to quit, and I mean really wanting to. I went cold turkey, and the first day I would have sucked the tail pipe of a big rig, but it got easier as the days passed. Hang in there you can do it.

    Thanks
    Wildman

I can symphatize with you, wildman, lol.

But the difference with me was,... I could have sucked on a whole chimney instead of "only" an ole tail pipe !!! :D

Good thing this is over now. *sigh*

I'm no walking miracle, I'm just me. All I did is ask for help. So that's the extent of the credit I can take. :D

:) To all who are trying to quit:

The "Wildman" is willing to lend what ever support he can, just let me know, in any manner you chose. To those who are on the path, I say one day at a time, it's one day at a time. Believe it or not they do get easier as time goes by, remember you didn't start by smoking almost three packs a day, you got to that stage over time, so the reverse to me sounds logical. It also takes a few days to get all that "CRAP" out of your system. Remember they don't call it an addiction for no reason.

    Thanks
    Wildman

your excatly right Wildman, and it also takes alot of time to get the habit out of your system too. When I had been quit those 15 years, sometimes after years of being quit I would be going somewhere and for a split second I would think--got to get my cigs lol.not often-but every now and then.

Yes you can stop if you really want to. Rita it takes a lot of guts, courage and will-power. As you already know, just remembered your previous achievements, Rita, hang in there! (My qualifacation, 31 years clean.)
