wow rising free AV has everything, more than any internet security suite ive seen, all the components, HIPS, BB, etc.

looks like a nice package for free.

The program certainly seems to have gained some weight since the last time I used it. The fact that the "AV" now includes a firewall is probably part of it.

The last version used about 19meg of ram, but this one is in the mid 40s so far.

I can't answer your question 100%, but if I remember correctly, there is very little difference between free and pro versions, must like Avast.

I does not appear to give you a choice to install the components seperately. THe firewall popped up a window when I tried to open Process Explorer though, which took me by surprise, as I thought this was just AV. It is really a suite. They should probably change the title.

I still have Comodo running firewall only & now I'm scanning still no sign of a firewall.

The interface has some resemblance to kaspersky, at least the settings page.

It is rather nice and functional. Hope they improved the detection and healing abilities to this release

Well if we'd judge AV's by their looks, Rising would be at the top. :D
This version looks even better than the old one. Not sure what they improved detection vise but as free option it can't be all that bad.

as a free solution, nothing can compare to the features and things it offers.

So this is a System Monitor + AntiVirus + AntiSpyware + Behavioral blocker + AntiBot + HIPS + FireWall + URL filter + some sort of USB/CD/DVD malware blocker?

Would there be anything more to add? A Sandbox?

If I go by icons.... It looks like the firewall is listed under ACTIVE DEFENSE > SYSTEM REINFORCEMENT. The components can be disabled/enabled through the Rising control panel.

It seems to run light enough, no slow down on surfing.

    Lol

I don't know much about suites, I prefer running on simple modules, it just seems unreal so much stuff in a single program.

I wish I had some test machine to install it. I don't think I can squeeze it in SandboxIE and get the full out of it.

Proactive Defence(protects your security safe from malicious program)
    Application Access Control

    Malicious Behavior Detection
    Hidden Process Detection

    Thank You.
I am looking over all of the bells and whistles. It has a lot of them.
So far it updates, scans, and seems to function with no problems.
I'm going to keep it for a while, see how it fares over time.;)

With the economy as it currently is, I'm not sure how they can afford that. Then again, I would never use it from past experience and personal reasons.
