I just purchased and downloaded Kasperskys yesterday for my Dell Laptop (Vista) and thought I uninstalled Avira Antivir Personal Edition but it still shows up as being active when I go into the Windows Security Center? Say's that multiple antivirus programs are running? I've tried everyting to get rid of Avira and am at a loss? My computer is running fine but I would rather not have Avira on it. Can anyone help me?

    Well,

I am at my wit's end.
Maybe you should post your problem at the Avira forum.

    Cheers

Are you sure completely uninstalled avira? try this: uninstall kaspersky, reboot and search all remaining kav & avira files. Next, run regsupremepro and clean your registry (reg cleaner feature), then use its 'software manager' module to fully uninstall avira and kav. Reboot and reinstall kaspersky.

No, don't search for registry entries by yourself, you just have to uninstall avira & kav through ControlPanel. I meant you have to search for remaining avira & kav files (not reg entries) via 'advanced search' (Vista feature) and manually delete them only after you uninstalled those programs properly through ControlPanel ('uninstall a program' option). Only then you can run regsupremepro in order to get rid of the remaining registry leftovers. Please re-read my earlier post.
    Good luck.
