Someone please offer help if you can. I have just stared having problems with my Intenet explorer. Everytime I open it up, it goes straight to "C:\WINNT\secure.html" which is a message saying "Detected Spyware! System Error # 384".
    etc etc
I am sure you are familiar with this.

I have first ran Spybot S&D and next
I have run a HijackThis program
and have copied and pasted the contents of the resulting log as below as adviced

    Hi adam reid,

    Welcome to Wilders.

Before you start, please unzip or move HijackThis to a separate folder. The program will make backups in the folder it's in. These easily get lost in a temporary folder or a folder with other programs.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = http://4-counter.com/?a=2&b=enc
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://4-counter.com/?a=2&b=enc

Download CWShredder and run. Be sure ALL other windows are closed and use the Fix button and follow the instructions you will receive.

There also may be hidden files. See HERE for how to show hidden files.

Then reboot in Safe Mode and delete the following:

    C:\WINDOWS\secure.html
sys.reg <-- You may have to do a search for this file.
    C:\WINDOWS\reg32.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\winproc32.exe
    C:\ss.MHT
    C:\Info_sex4.cab

Reboot and then post a fresh HijackThis log.

    Regards,
    Kent

    Hi adam reid,

Just a suggestion, but one I urge you to heed; go to the Microsoft update site at http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp and install the Service Packs for both your Windows and Internet Explorer. They fix several major security issues, and close some major holes in your computer's security.

The site will examine your system and tell you what's needed; install the upgrades and reboot as needed, and keep updating until you get the message that there are no more critical updates. Do this for BOTH Windows and Internet Explorer.

The fixes by puff-m-d should cure your present woes, and the updates to your system should help keep your computer healthy. There are several free security programs that would help as well, but he can tell you about them after he checks your new log. Good luck :)
