OK just to give ya a look I installed into an XP VM.

After registering it prompts to set a password then reboots into protected mode.

After selecting unprotect it reboots again. It prompts for the password on trying to bring up the gui and if I select to protect again it doesn't seem to know the command.

If I hit Stop then it throws up a prompt to "unintall", yep that's what it says. LOL.

Man, I don't wanna be mean but this is just crap... The only real competitors of Shadow Defender are WTF and Deep Freeze... even Returnil looks out of the scope with it's antimalware/antispyware module... IMO
I'm disappointed by GAOTD, I know it's not a big deal but they even offered Returnil a couple of weeks ago... So who knows why they even bothered uploading this crap... and no, they can't be justified under the "it's free! so can't complain" argument...

That's an interesting statement, do you have any sources for this claim?
Why would the authorities frown upon SD?

Not really just general concerns over the well-being of the developer raised when he was first MIA as noted in this and other forums but struck my interest in this post in SD forums by Patrick http://www.shadowdefender.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=330

SD is very good at keeping malware off of systems I suppose this could mean state sponsored malware also or simply relationships developed in the west may not have met with official approval.

As noted, just speculation in the absence of any real info probably tinged with undue paranoia given Tony's geographical location.

Here's hoping it's something benign and mundane keeping him quiet like he's just having a break or even just had enough.

Whatever hope he's able to bring his substantial coding skills to the fore again soon.

    Cheers

The original statement could have been made simply as conjecture, a hypothesis that Shadow Defender could possibly be used to circumvent state interests and in that scenario maybe cause Tony problems from the authorities. Tony had mentioned that the internet in China is censored and certain areas of the internet that we use daily in the West are deemed by the state to be unacceptable.

    Good find, Barthez.

PhatomArmor copied Shadow Defender Page with HTTrack.

    Thanks for the info...

There is another strange thing in the HTML Help.

Makes no sense at all. o_O

From the features it's a bit like DeepFreeze, the website is a SD copy and the help file points at another PrivacyProtect.org shielded site for all kind of Video tools.

    Cheers

    Good catch ;)

I guess they must be preempting the massive $ fallout & devaluation that's coming soon :D In reality though, that's no laughing matter :(
