Hey Marja, I think if you have a look around you could DL an older version of PSP (maybe V7) for free. I actualy saw V7 on a magazine cover disc for free the other day. You can DL V9 for a month's trial also.
    Cheers,
    Brad.

Thanks Snap for the overview. ;) I'll give it a try one of these days.
Marja, glad to see you here. You can learn wonderful things.
Maybe someone can send you the CD of the older PSP version, if you're unable to find it.

Brad, I found it back :) and there are really good tutorials you can find there.

    Not until tonight! :D
I guess we can use it to add big snowflake effects in
a picture or doing kind of geometrical designs like this one ;)
The thing is the more you have filters on your pc the less
you find time to use them.

Eldar, I tried to make a transparent picture in Photofiltre
and it did not work properly...Some colour was left...
I'm afraid I did not do it the right way....
Can you please tell me how you did it o_O
I also look for the eraser but did not find it... :(

Sorry, I'll try to explain it later on :(, have to play again, so it will be late when I come back.
Some filters who are really useful can be found at Mehdi. Look for Eraser Classic and of course take a look at the others. :D
It could also be possible that this function is not available in your version. I simply can't remember it.
Here's the screenshot of it. ;)

Now that's a beautiful animation. :D I'm eager to learn how you do it, so looking forward to it.
I think Brad that this plugin isn't used for inserting into pictures. It's a standalone.
You're right about that. Better have some very useful filters, instead of downloading them all. ;)

Thanks Uguel and Eric for all your help. I shall have a good play with both 'make-a-flake' and 'erasing a backround' when some time permits.
    Thanks again,
    Brad. :D

    Ok, I'm back.:)
The problem with transparent pictures consists of using the right color to make transparent. It's sometimes a bit tricky.
If a color present is not exactly the same as the one you want to to make transparent, it won't work.:(
Better first pasting the same color or correcting the little bits.
Here's an overview on how I do it.
I know Uguel will mostly know how to use this, but better explain the steps for users new to this.

Re: Paint Shop Pro & PhotoFiltre Talk

Yes I know where the eraser is in Paint Shop but I could not find the eraser tool in "Photofiltre" palette. o_O On the other hand, Paint Shop 7 has only 1 eraser, it doesn't have the "background eraser" .

I wanted to set the transparency in "Photofiltre" instead of Paint Shop to see if it was faster and I finally could do it yesterday for I found a tutorial in French (for Photofiltre) that is similar to the one you gave except that they use Photofiltre to do all the steps and not a mix of Paint Shop and Photofiltre....Although it is possible to do it in Photofiltre (by going into the menu) I notice that the eraser tool doesnt exist in the program. :doubt:

Of course it is good also to start working the picture with Paint shop since many users want to get used to Paint Shop before using any other program. ;)

Thank you very much for the info Eldar! :)
This is the tutorial I found and did yesterday:

    Ok, back to work.
    Here's a winterscene that I made out of 5 tubes. :)
The dwarf, the cardinal, the woodpecker, the blue jay. and the moon....
and finally, I added some snow with Snowflakes filter. ;)

Re: Paint Shop Pro & PhotoFiltre Talk

I found a real good place to download tubes. :)
Although you can use them for your personal creations,
they all come with a watermark that you have to delete by
supressing a layer called "ebene" once you open the pic
in Paint shop. Once you delete the watermark, or the layer
called "ebene", you can export it in your tube foder. Why the
tubes come with a watermark? ...I read that some commecial
websites were downloading full pages of tubes and were selling
them after. :( So in order to prevent that, they put a watermark
on all the tubes they offer on their website. ;)

All the tubes come into the PSP format.
So once you deleted the watermark, you go to>File>preferences>
Export> Images tube....you give a name to your tube and click ok.

    Here's the link ;)

Oops! Misread your post. Sorry Uguel.
I took a look for the eraser in PhotoFiltre and couldn't find it. Strange, but maybe available in another update.
That's what I feared. It must have been added in version 8 or 9.
You're welcome and thanks for the tutorial. ;)
    Marvellous winterscene, well done.
Thanks again for that link. Getting submerged with tubes, frames, plugins, ... :D
Here's another: Pygal's Tube Links. You can't download tubes there, but it gives you an alphabetic list which gives you links to tube sites.

I don't want to seem like I'm stepping out of place here, but... for Adobe Photoshop CS, I used to do tutorials in my old forums....

If anyone is interested in finding out how to use Photoshop 7 and onwards, then they are more than welcome to get into contact with myself. Like Uguel707, I enjoy putting a lot of effort into making a tutorial easy to understand and easy to read.

It's very nice to see that someone else is putting such great community help together :D

Re: Paint Shop Pro & PhotoFiltre Talk

A winter scene from Quebec.... :)

I applied a Gaussian blur in the pic set to 5.00
then I added a blue frame of about 10 pixels,
I selected the blue frame, inverted the selection
then I went to>Effects> Textures... and tried different glass mosaic
settings and finally I chose these setting for the glass effect in the frame:

    Glass mosaic settings

    1. Number of rows: 25
    2. Number of columns 25
    3. Glass curvature (projection): 50
    4. Edge curvature (projection): 1
    5. Grout width:1
    6. Grout opacity: 3

..then I added 2 more frames, one blue frame of about 10 pixels and a brown
    one of 5 pixels. :)
