    Re: Paint Shop Pro & PhotoFiltre Talk

    Hey Brad, I'm glad you could get Snowflakes! :)
    In the meantime I tried myself this morning at doing
    a screenshot of a dropdown menu and it worked.
    I just press on the "Print Screen" button on my
    keyboard, then I opened "Windows Paint" and
    I did Ctrl+ V and the image appeared. So next
    time I will know how. ;)

    Okay, when looking at your animation I was
    wondering if you applied the snow filter over the pic
    that had already a snow filter on it....for some snow-
    flakes are "steady" in both frames..... Just in case
    I did not explain properly, always apply the snow
    effect filter on a pic that has not been already
    modified by Snowfllakes filter. :)
    And of course, it is good to choose a picture
    of a winter scene that has a blue sky,
    no snowflakes in it, lol.

    Let me make a suggestion for a theme.... ;)

    I was thinking that for the following 2 weeks we might
    work on winter scene pictures....and then another person
    give a different theme for the next 2 weeks. Themes might be
    about seasons, forests, sea, deserts, people, sports and so on.

    What do you think? o_O

    Splendid idea Uguel. :D

    If all you need is a simple icon without another program this site may be of interest.
    It contains clean and free :D plugins for Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro and etc.
    More to the point, there's a simple plugin that will allow the user to open and save *.ico files.

    Thanks Cynheidre for the link and the information. :) Didn't find that one yet, although I've found another with a lot of plugins. I'll post these links once I organized them. So many ... :D

    Here's my first try with the Snowflake. Works pretty well I think.:cool:

    There are some great effects already within PSP that can be fun to play with, so I thought I'd share one with you that you might find a use for or just to have fun with. It's great if you're doing flags, or something you want to put in an underwater scene for the "sea theme", or possibly even for the desert theme if you want to show 'heatwaves'.

    You can use a picture or tube but try to keep it in porportion to the image you're going to set it on.

    In the example I've attached, I first made the image I wanted to put on the T-shirt, then used the "Wave" effect with the following settings to make it look as close to the wrinkles in the T-shirt.

    To find the Wave effect in PSP7 (I believe it's the same in PSP8 & 9) go to "Effects" click on the "Geometric Effect" and choose "Wave". Then using the following settings:

    Under Horizontal displacement:
    Amplitude = 3
    Wavelength = 39
    Under Vertical displacement:
    Amplitude = 0
    Wavelength = 1

    You may have to play a bit with the wavelength depending on how wrinkled the material, or object, is that you're laying your image onto.

    The trick in making it look like it's actually a part of the material is in the Layer Palette's Opacity settings. I faded the star image by sliding the opacity slider to 64%, and putting the other setting to "Overlay" so the shadows in the T-Shirt's wrinkles show through it.

    You can also use some of the other settings in the Layer Palette's options, like "Normal" or "Luminace", which will also give it a different look. But it all depends on what colour the T-shirt is (or other image you're using) ....med-dark will give better results for shadows to show through. :)

    It looks like I'll be spending quite some time here. If I ever get any free time that is! :'( :D
    Another link that you probably all know about is Flaming Pear. Most of the plugins here are trial versions but there are a few useful freebies.

    And I want to add that it can be either a static picture
    or an animation. It would be interesting if we pick a pic
    from the web and then add tubes ,or a filters in it...
    You decide if you want a frame at the end.;)
    And...of course, if you can draw your own pictures,
    it would be even better, lol! :D

    Hey Cynheidre, Yep I have "hue and Cry" from Flaming Pear and
    a few others that I did not use often for I have little time.
    Hue and cry has nice colour but I must admit that I would need
    some coaching in order to use it well. :doubt: :D

    First I had a rose... :D

    Ok Uguel, since we're on a winter theme......what do you do with the Xero 'make-a-flake' plugin? It doesn't really do anything good to a picture that I can tell.....although it makes a nice snowflake on its own. Have you used it before?
