Just installed the free OA. The OP said that keylogger detection had been removed however upon rebooting after installing OA it detected a keylogger in Rollback RX. So i guess keylogger detection is included. Is it just for this pre-release version or the final version as well?

It would depend on what level of keylogging (hooks/kernal). Simple hooks will probably been seen/alerted,.. but low level(kernal) not. (IMHO).

    edit:

    As from listing of previous:-

    Hi there,

I get, an awful lot of emails and PM's during a day. As I recall, I didn't respond to yours for a few days (too busy) - and then I got an email (or PM) saying you didn't want to proceed :)

Does this have the script/worm protection? I would try out myself but am currently on Vista.

also would it play along well with a-squared anti-malware running, or wouldn't a-squared be needed?

    Very Nice!

With the basic version of the firewall can I allow a particular port for torrenting?

    Thanks

    "Standard" version :)

Yes, you can set port rules up (or OA will do it automagically for you) but you cannot import blacklists on those ports, or restrict connections by country/network address.

Just installed and running the free version alongside NAV2K8 and it is running well.

    A few questions:

    1. NAV2K8 has a basic firewall (mainly incoming but does prompt for some outgoing programs and includes SPI).

Should this be turned off and just use OA's firewall?

What are the advantages to running OA's firewall instead of NAV's or some of the free firewalls?

    2. One of the options listed in the config menu is to scan for viruses.

How is it scanning for viruses when no AV is included?

Thanks in advance and for making a very good free version of OA available.

I would only use one FW at a time; OAFW should play well with others, but if the other program updates we might not in future.

The main advantage of OAFW (from my perspective) is that it's integrated in with the HIPS; Whitelist, blacklist - and its REALLLLY easy to use.

It uses OA's very small database. This will be reworded prior to final release.

SPI, pseudo spi for UDP etc? Looking at the GUI, i don't know what to make of it. Doesn't seem to have any.

We keep a state table of connections, but we do not do any deep packet inspection

I installed it on my internet-connected machine and it is pretty light and stable. I want to use it also on my home network-connected machine that is not connected to the internet because I really like the simple firewall and HIPS feature. but it requires activation.. is there any chance to change the way activation is handled? like an email activation key or something so that internet connection is not required during installation?

This is a pre-release of the free version. A few things still need to change around activation, correct disabling of certain features and bascially checking that we haven't done anything silly.

It's with out beta test team now (Hi Guys!) - while keylogger detection is in the current one, there is no way to change your mind after the first popup since the keylogger screen is blocked.

Similarly, there is a subscription expiry still showing that we need to remove as well and a couple of changes to the installer.

Vista is about 8 or 9% of visitors to our site. It's something we are looking at, but its not our absolute top priority *at the moment*.

Thanks for making this program available Mike Nash.
I have it installed, tested it at Shields Up and it passed that test.
Very easy to set up and popups associated with the firewall have helpful info about ports used.
    First impression-very nice program!!
