    Hi,
I bought NOD32 Antivirus the other day. What worries me is that when i try to perform a scan, deep or smart, its getting stuck at a path, its the same path and the same % done every time i try, namely C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\GameExplorer and its always 87% done.
Any idea what i can do about it? I hate to live with the fact that i aint able to perform a whole scan.

    Im using:
    ESET NOD32 AntiVirus v 4.0.437.0
Windows Vista Home Premium 6.0.6001 SP1 (Swedish)

Im grateful for any help/tips/anything :)
    Thanks in advance!

    Hannes

    Hello Hannesenator,

That directory has caused others users scans to hang also. How large is it and what are the file types inside?

    Hello Hannesenator,

If you right click on the folder and choose ESET from the Context Menu does that scan get through it?

    Yes, it does.
Also, after ~6hrs, it got throught that map (on a full scan), and got stuck on C:\Users\Templates instead.

What scanning profile is used when the scan gets stuck? Have you changed any of the default parameters?

    Hi Hannesenator,

There's a parameter enabled in the deep and smart scans, scanning profiles that isn't enabled in the Context menu profile. That parameter or parameters is what is not allowing the scan to complete.

However, an empty directory wouldn't cause the scan to hang.

These might be Junction Points or Symbolic Links. Shortcuts instead of the actual directories.

    This article explains.

Hi... i'm also facing the same problem. ESET AV v4 stuck while scanning a game installer which i downloaded from CabalSEA, it stucks at files.info (a file in the installer) i try to stop it by clicking stop scan but it wont stop. Then i have to restart computer to skip this scan.

    Wonder how to fix?
I using Window XP Service Pack 2
    ESET Anti-Virus v 4.0.437.

    Thanks..ESET

Oh yeah... i also tried the method stated above here but still failed :(

    Still no success :(
Unless im looking at the wrong place (which i doubt), then the settings are as good as identical.
Would it be an idea to update to SP2? And how should i move on if i assume its one of those symbolic links?

This would happen if you use junction points pointing (JP) to themselves. Personally I can't think of a practical use such JPs, but we've had some users with such JP on Acer notebooks.

In the first step, I'd suggest enabling logging all scanned files to see if the scan actually gets stuck on a particular file.

Its stuck. The last file scanned throught in the log has been the same for 15 mins now.
And as i am on a Acer notebook, i went ahead and got the list of JPs:

    Volymens serienummer är 240E-99D1
