Hi there Just uninstalled BitDefender 10, because it was a resource hog, even for my CoreDuo processor. I don't like an antivirus which can't be set to maximum protection. Was very pleased with it anyways, since it found 2 malware my previous antivirus (avast!) didn't know about. Anyways, based on reviews, av-comparatives.org's results and different antivirus rankings found on the web, I decided to give NOD32 a try. Great AV, runs almost unnoticed. It set it up with Blackspear's settings. I'm seriously considering buying this product. I do have a problem however. Today (installed trial version yesterday) I decided to "force" an update, to see what happens (Previous AV I had updated definition several times a day, and I'm still running yesterdays definitions). But it asks for Username and Password, as if it was about to upgrade to full version. Is this normal? Will I be able to update definitions? I read in another thread that it gives priority to registered users. I'm OK with that, if I pay for a product I want to have priority, but is this the case? I don't remember anyone writing about a password being asked. Thanks
Hi ! You either installed wrong version or pressed a wrong button (Full version button instead of Update now ) This button (2) is wrong if you want to update VSD However , if you want to perform manual update , just press Update now next to the shown one . When NOD32 updates successfully (either manually or automatically) you'll see a ballon like this: Pictures from Blackspear's guide
Thanks for the input, but i did press the proper button. As for the version, I downloaded 30-day trial from eset.com yesterday. Regards Tom
It does not ask for username , really . 1. Please , press the Update now button now and see what happens? 2. Open Control Center -> NOD32 System Tools -> Information . In the right section , there is a button called Copy to Clipboard , press it. Then come here and put the info using Copy/Paste . It will give us clear idea of some things Thanks

Ok . Can you please try the following: 1) Download the latest fresh version of NOD32 v 2.7 for your operating system Here is a direct link for ESET NOD32 2.7 trial version in English for your OS - Windows XP 2) Open Control Panel-> Add/Remove programs and Uninstall NOD32 3) Reboot when prompt 4) After restart , go to C:\Program files and manually delete the folder ESET 5) Install NOD32 from the file you downloaded in step 1 Use "Typical" install 6) Make sure you have stable internet connection and NOD32 (nod32krn.exe) is allowed to go through your firewall. Then Update NOD32 . How are things going on now?
Hi there your suggestion seems to have fixed the problem, but i'll wait until tomorrow, 'cause when yesterday the update went well too. Anyway, thanks for all your help Tom
