I have a customer who must disable nod32 in order to download his email. What gives? This is a fresh install of outlook and nod on a clean install of windows. The odd thing is that it gets about 1/2 way through then hangs. But since it never finishes outlook(in its wisdom) downloads all the same email again on its next attempt. Disable nod and all the email comes through. I even ran a scan afterwords to make sure there wasn't an infection in the email but nothing.
You mention it is a complete fresh install so is it fully patched and updated? Are the network card drivers updated? Also: ESET version Windows Version

I also get the same problem with my pc on office LAN. Exactly when I disable nod32, it goes through all emails smoothly. It did happen several times, not always. When it happens, it is because nod32 came across a certain email while downloading via POP, always stop there. Disable nod32, problem immediately fixed. I called Nod32 support, no one dare to come back. Seems a bug and a headache for Nod32 support technician. Rgds, Dove
