Acronis has released an update to Trueimage 7.0. The build number is 627 and the changes are:

    * Better hardware support.

    * Fixed creating images on CDR/CDRW upon booting from Bootable Rescue Media.

    * Better hardware support for rescue media

Acronis seems to have made some progress with this new build. I have a Dell Dimension 4600 with a 120-GB SATA hard drive. Previously, I had to use the "acpi=off noapic" switch whenever restoring an image. Otherwise, the computer froze. With the new build I no longer have to use this switch--I created and restored an image without any problem.

    Good work!

I just tried the latest Build (627) and noticed a substantial reduction in the size of the total image file. Used to be three 4GB files plus one file of about 1.9G.

Now it's just about three full 4GB files.

I believe I used the same compression value (default normal). Anybody else notice this?

    Thanks,
    Harvey

No, so far on images smaller than yours, I have not noticed any difference.

Erm, this official build 627 does NOT see my Silicon Image 3112 RAID 0 from the Boot CD - yet the unofficial build 619 I was given doeso_O

Official answer as to why we've taken a backwards step please? o_O

I've been using true image for a couple of weeks now and there have been some problems. The build 613 boot cd does not work with one of my machines, unless I use the safe mode. It works OK on my other machine which is identical but has a sata drive instead of pata? Build 627 so far does not look too good either. It takes 20 min to recover an image which only takes 2 min with build 613. Looks like support for the via 8237 sata controller is kind of broken. The recovery still works thouigh, it just takes a long, long, long time. Back to build 613 for me.
To me it would make more sense if the imaging software would accept and use any hard drive controller driver. Sorta like the F6 when loading windows. Then there would be no need to try to build in support for all controllers.
    Acronis true image 8 maybe?

Try Bootit ng for 30 days (free). Bootit relies on your BIOS, not your OS for proper detection.

    Hi, Fedorov999

Yes Fedorov must agree 100% with you on that, not what I call a update either.

They seem to have gone wrong with the Si 3112 Raid Controller support. o_O

Have to wait and see what they have to say when Anton calls in. :(

    Hello --

Please ensure that the bootable CD is created by Acronis rue Image build 627... It's kinda weird as it should have the support of Si3112.

    Thank you.

That was the whole point of my posting, I have tried the build 627 Boot CD and we appear to have lost support for Si3112 :(

Well... if you are absolutely sure that it's 627 build, then please write to Acronis Support and we will investigate the problem. Though so far there was no user that complained about Si3112 in 627 build.

    Thank you.

    Already sent email :)

Bearing in mind I've hardly had a working v7 until the recent build 619, now it's broke in 627, anymore v7 updates now that v8 is out... I would hope to be moved FOC to v8 until these issues get resolved in an official version please?

    Thanks, Fedorov.

    Hi, Anton Acronis Support

Yes for sure it was and is #627

Anton is there any hope the it will be fixed as now that Ti Build Version 8 is now the lastest Build, and which will now be YOUR [your! meaning Acrois] number one priority.

And that [Ti8] is another story as we can see by some of the posts.

Are you having problems with your Si3112 as well?

I'll give a detailed reply and explanation on Acronis True Image 8.0 in a separate thread.

    Thank you.

I think as a matter of priority we need to know if build 627 is the last in the v7.0 series - if it is I'd appreciate being upgraded automatically to 8.0 to get these Si3112 issues resolved fully.

    Thanks, Fedorov.
