I thought I got rid of this several days ago but, it is back for no apparent reason - so I thought I'd better get someone who know what they are doing to help me out. Thanks.

    Hi jason8859,

    Welcome to Wilders.

Before you start, please unzip or move HijackThis to a separate folder of its own. The program will make backups to the folder it's in. These easily get lost in a temporary folder or a folder with other programs.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\lbj.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\lbj.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\lbj.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\lbj.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\lbj.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\lbj.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5AE7105B-C2F0-457A-BFE1-892FADB2B3F5} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\lbj.dll

There also may be hidden files. See HERE for how to show hidden files.

Then reboot into safe mode and delete:

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\lbj.dll

    Reboot.

Please download the KillBox from HERE.

Unzip it to a folder of it's own, not to the desktop or a temp folder.
Click on The KillBox.exe and it will open.
Now click find then find msg{}.dll.
Then on the little pop up window, that says killbox file list,
    Click file >> create log,
And a pop up says do you want to create a log in notepad?
Click yes and then save as usual in notepad.
Copy & paste the resulting list here along with a new HJT log..

    Regards,
    Kent

I deleted the appropriate stuff using HJT. I rebooted in safe mode but, was unable to find C:\WINDOWS\System32\lbj.dll.

Before I could post again (new HJT and Killbox log) I was hijacked by the same hijacker. I ran HJT and deleted what corresponded with your original reply except this time the files/programs had C:\WINDOWS\System32\eom.dll associated with them.

I search for this program but could not find it. I searched manually and using the MS search program. I looked and looked, could it be gone?

Here are my current HJT and KillB logs.

after fixing the files you were told to please dowbnload this file searchxfix.txt

save it to the desktop & rename it to searchxfix.reg

double click it, and say yes to the prompts and let it add to the registry

that should stop this one coming back

    Derek,

I cannot add the file you posted to my reg. I download it to my desktop as .txt. I rename it to .reg - and it appears to change to a registry type file but, when I try to add it to my reg by double clicking or right click and "merge" an error comes up an says:

"the specified file file is not a registry script. You can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor."

Could I have done something wrong? What should I do?

    Thanks,

    Jason

somehow there was an error in the file it was headed in lowercase not capitals and windoze didn't like it

    I've fixed that now

but there has been a new update to cwshredder that completely cures this hijacker without having to use the fix so please download it from here
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=136398

unzip it and follow the instructions in the program, press fix not scan only
