hello :) . a friend of mine has malware, and id like to ask if we should do as follows, or if we dont need to take things so far. your comments will be appreciated, as if its too much it will save us some time. thanks
    • run spybot
    • run adaware
    • run stinger
    • trendmicro
    • windowsecurity trojan scan
also, i was thinking of running e-scan stand alone with Kaspersky engine. but, in the back of my mind i remember that there may be some problem doing this. something like it is very powerful and can remove unnecessary things?

and should we run avast! Virus Cleaner - free virus & worm removal tool?

is it right to turn off resident anti-virus while doing the scans?

and should temps folder and cookies be deleted first?

once this is done we'll post a HJT log.
if you can answer any of these questions it will be a great help, thank you :)

I would turn off System Restore, boot into Safe Mode, and then start scanning and cleaning. Delete temp files in Safe Mode as well. Spybot, Ad-Aware, Stinger, and Avast should run in Safe Mode. In emergency situations, I often use the command line versions of McAfee or F-Prot to scan and clean in Safe Mode.

E-scan is very good and leave no traces in your computer.
    You can use it safely.

thanks, i'll put that on the list too. i stopped useing it awhile ago, when for a short time it gave a F/P and it took me a while to work it out(if id read all the info on it, i would have seen it was a know issue, and was fixed in the next release. anyway, thanks for the reply, Blackspear :)
