If you saw the version 17 candidates folder on the FTP you know this is already the second 17.0 build, so need reason to wait. ;)

I just checked about:config for social to check the entries for the new Social API, seems it is still disabled by default as social.active and social.enabled are set to false and there is no mention of this feature in the normal settings window. I did notice that the value for social.activation.whitelist is https://facebook.com, I think users should be given that choice :thumbd:

Good find! social.manifest.facebook is worth taking a look, too.

It is disabled by default and totally "Opt-in". It is very simple. Go to the Facebook Messenger page and click green button "Turn On".

No need to muck about in "about:config". It is enabled and disabled in about:config by user turning it on or off.
[edit] however, one can check to see it switch on and off in about:config; enter 'social' in the search bar to call up all entires)

On Linux, it may be missing Google and other search engines. Mycroft's search engine plugins can restore them.
