    Hello there,

I wonder if you could answer this regarding HJT logs. Looking at other sites (computercops, tech forum etc) I have seen recommendations that certain entries on HJT logs be deleted and other info that says that they are fine to remain.

Here is my HJT log which I am quite convinced is clean, but I have seen some people recommend that the entries I have highlighted bold be removed.

What are these entries and is it worth removing them in terms of keeping my system lean?

As I said in the title it is not urgent, was more out of curiosity to be honest.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SoundMan] SOUNDMAN.EXE
In this case is your sound card driver and needed

Where the confusion is coming in is a new agobot version using the same start up , but the agobot will use 2 start ups a run and run services

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot

Tkbelle is real player upate and not needed at start up as can be run from within the program when you want it to
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

is quicktime player and also can be started manually when needed and is not needed at boot time

Some advise removing quicktime & real dependoing on the system specs

I always suggest removing those start ups on ME or 98 because those systems tend to have limited memory and every kb in a 98 system is vital

they are not so important to remove in W2K or XP as those systems handle memory better
