My son asked me to post this!

Monitor going into power save mode on boot

I’m having an issue with our desk top going into power save mode during boot up.

    It’s a circa 2007 Dell w/ Windows Vista.

I just got done with a move into a new house. The move wasn’t very far and I thought we were pretty careful with moving the computer.

Computer was shutdown for better part of 6 weeks and this happened when we tried to boot it up this week.

During boot up, just after the Windows symbol appears, the monitor goes into power save mode.

I can hear the computer is still running and starting up.

I bought and installed a used video card from Ebay that was the same make/model as mine and does exactly the same thing.

(Dell NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE DT240 0DT240 128MB PCIe x16 Video Graphics Card)

I tried starting in safe mode and it does go into safe mode.

I also tested the monitor with my laptop and seems to work fine with it.

Not sure where to go from here.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried a different monitor? This will tell us if the monitor is going to sleep on its own, or if it is going to sleep because the computer is not longer sending a signal.
