What an amazing bunch of STARS you are...........one question and you all leap into action without a seconds thought.... :-*

I know now how I came to lose the DLL file....it was included in my Trust USB 19200 scanner....which I uninstalled completely yesterday so that I could load a Packard Bell Diamond plus scanner....my mistake was in saying yes to delete all the files....so this morning I re-installed then uninstalled but left all the files intact and so my Family Tree Maker programme is now OK...Thanks.

The programme, by the way, is Broderbund Family Tree Maker.....and I have something in the region of a 1000 family members in it so you can see why I panicked a bit.... :D :D

Very Best Regards to you all, Cochise,
