That's bad luck. Can you recall initializing The SSD? It is now Offline so right click on the word Initialize and follow the wizard for a Basic Disk (not Dynamic or GUID). Try IFW again. But on this occasion, don't select Copy First Track.

Don't worry, we'll get it done one way or another.

Edit,,, before you do the above, run chkdsk /f on the C: drive (from an Admin command prompt).

    So close.

Do that copy again but this time..

In Resize After Copy, don't type in the Max number. Just leave the field empty.

Excellent it workssss! Thanks a ton, all programs work as well.

I just wanted to know from your experience is it better to copy drive like this or a complete format?

Does it affect performance in anyway ?

Thanks a ton brian for your help... much appreciated could not have done it without you!

    Nice work.

I never reformat. I always do what you did.

Can you post a screenshot of Disk Management of the SSD? We can discuss what to do with the unallocated space.

    Excellent result.

How do you find the SSD speed?

yes i am actually benchmarking it,the read speeds are excellent around 400MBs ,but write speed is disappointing, I am running it in IDE mode, trying to enable AHCI mode to improve performance.

Another way of doing this with one disk is to use IFD or IFL. Compact the Source partition and Copy at the same session. Resizing the Source partition isn't needed as the data has been compacted.

hmm,is there a difference between the two methods ?

I actually downloaded the manual for IFW when you said that it can be used to migrate to SSD,but the procedure in that is something different.

You can't compact the OS partition with IFW as the OS is "in use". But there are many ways to skin a cat.

I was actually reading the same,in the manual pdf file that i downloaded from the website,it is quite exhaustive as well.

I am glad that i bought the software I did not know it could do so many things all i had in mind was a software to backup my system image and restore it back in case anything goes wrong!
