For us parents with young children out there, this is the perfect tool to block Porn/Malicious URLs while you're away from the computer, and while they're on it.

This is a perfect tool for you/the parent to enable before your child gets on.

It does indeed block many sites and can be protected with a password that you or your spouse only know.

I tested this out myself and it works quite well.

    It's called MetaSurf

    Info here: https://metacert.com/

    Mozilla Firefox Extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/metacert/?src=search

    Google Chrome Extension: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/metasurf/dpfbddcgbimoafpgmbbjiliegkfcjkmn

NOTE: With the extension installed, I did notice a slight decrease in browsing speed...nothing drastic though.

Available for Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome

Something to note for Firefox users:

The Firefox software does not block pornography by default. To switch on the filter, create a password using the settings on the toolbar.

It's main objective is to block porn, but a lot of those porn sites aren't always the safe ones, many of them contain malicious downloads and or content. So, I guess you could say it blocks both.

All I can say is, it definitely does an excellent job blocking them.
