I have Windows Media Player 10 installed on my XP system but the program icon is NOT showing up in the "Currently Installed Programs" list under Add/Remove Programs....nor is it showing up in my 3rd party Uninstaller program. Can someone please shed some light on this and a possible fix as well? Thanks.

Windows Media Player should be listed under the Installed Windows Components panel which you can get to from the main Add/Remove Programs dialog.

in order to see this you'll need to select (check) the 'show updates' option located on the top.

    Hope this helps

Wonder if it could be hidden from the add/remove list.Try the tip below.

Windows Explorer>Tools>Folder Options check Show hidden files and folders.

Open sysoc.inf in the C:\WINDOWS\inf Then press Ctrl+H to open the Replace Wizard.

    In Replace Wizard:

    Find what: ,hide,
    Replace with: ,,

Then forward to Control Panels>Add/Remove Programs>Add/Remove Windows Components, some hidden Windows Components will now show.

It's NOT showing up in Add/Remove Programs window even when the "Show Updates" box is ticked.

WMP icon is showing up in "Add/Remove Windows Components", but not in the main Add/Remove Programs window (where it previously was displayed). Could this be a registry settings issue?

    From Microsoft's home site.

What happened was that I uninstalled WMP through a 3rd party uninstaller (Your Uninstaller! 2006), which also removed several registry settings. Then I re-installed it....but it no longer shows up in the Add/Remove programs list.

Can this be fixed by modifying any registry settings? Thanks.
