If anybody wants mcafee virusscan 2008 for free (1 year) , go to google, type in natwest mcafee and the first link, (not the advert) and go from there and register with mcafee.

It would be a pleasure. All I have downloaded is the DM. I guess when one downloads the progam they send a key, but I am not sure.
Only someone as daring as you would ditch Avira for a freebie.:D

Thanks, that is a surprise, as I thought all would need a key. However, it is OK by me.:D

basically it uses a registered username/account.

your 1 years subscription will be added to your account, which you can keep track of by logging on.

your serial, will be your username and password, if you dont have one... it will ask you to create one during installation.

So is everyone getting VirusScan 2008 as opposed to VirusScan Plus which was 2007?

    What about resource usage?

Thanks for the links. I got it downloaded and installed ok. Seems to be working ok here so far and it is the 2008 edition. I never was all that impressed with McAfee any other time I tried it but where it's a freebie...I might try it out for a while. At least until I get a screw up.
