Is Artemis just an enterprise thing for now? It's listed in the enterprise section.

So it is in all the current 2009 products? When I downloaded the Internet Security trial, I saw no Artemis option listed.

    Yes, it is.
Its not explicitly listed as Artemis in the options.

I think its listed something like " send info to McAfee" instead.

As per McAfee beta forum, if you see a file like :
    Then you have Artemis installed.

    Hmm...really curious.

The guys at the Beta-section of McAfee were sure that Artemis is not going to be released in Home-Products before Beta-2010 too:

Ok, just checked with my McAfee rep. Its for Enterprise production only, including:
McAfee Enterprise Edition, McAfee VirusScan Plus Enterprise, McAfee Total Protection for End Point.

Sorry for the misinformation earlier. Since McAfee stated that Artemis is available for VirusScan Plus and Total Protection, we assumed it meant all versions. It was not so.

Thanks, all. For now, that rules out me moving back to McAfee. I'll be interested in the reports from posters who do use products with Artemis.

Let me just clear a couple of loose ends up.
It'll not be called Artemis in consumer products and it won't be enabled by the extra method as per the beta :thumb:

This is the site with all the info.
    http://www.mcafee.com/artemis

On the bottom of that page is the list so far:
    McAfee VirusScan® Enterprise
    McAfee Total Protection Service
McAfee VirusScan Plus (Yes the Consumer Product - So enjoy the beta's!)

Dimitry has done a podcast linked on the right that explains a lot more if you're that interested

So let me understand this, Artemis (the poster).

McAfee Consumer beta has explicitly in-built Artemis (the module), for which no option is displayed in the settings.
Post end of beta (probably in Dec'08 ), McAfee will integrate Artemis (the module) into McAfee 2009 product release via update.

I cant comment on dates or the deployment method but yes it's is aimed at all 3 product lines and the consumer beta had it enabled by the extra as mentioned already on this thread.
As for the final UI, I've not seen it. I'll point the PM to this thread though and ask for you.

I've used McAfee Corporate quite a bit and just wanted to mention that there are issues with the updater that make some computers unusable for the most part during the updating process. They've had lots of time to fix this problem but it lingers on and on, only partially resolved. If they can't get their sig updates to run without putting an unacceptable load on some systems why would anyone expect Artemis not to further increase this load?

artemis results are now included in the just updated report. Detailed results about artemis will follow in some weeks.
