Mandriva's parent company divested all its assets to an open source foundation following their emergence from bankruptcy.

They intend to copy the successful business models of Red Hat and Novell and sell Linux to the corporate market as servers and long term maintenance Linux software.

For the desktop, the open community will drive development and product adoption and this has reversed Mandriva's previous closed source model. With the release of this alpha, a troubled distro appears headed for a brighter future.
